Recent reports indicate that the situation remains dire. As of January 3, 2025, only 16 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza are partially operational, with the remaining 20 closed. This limited capacity is far below what is needed to address the overwhelming health crisis in the region
Additionally, there is a severe shortage of medical supplies and consumables, hindering the provision of essential healthcare across the Gaza Strip. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned that at least 60 medications will be depleted at its health facilities by the end of the year.
