Clean water for Pakistan: 12M people benefited daily

Did you know that 3.5 million people lose their lives each year by drinking contaminated water? Imagine walking miles under the scorching sun just to collect a few liters of water. This is the daily ordeal for many women and children in Pakistan. According to a study by UNICEF, about 70% of the population in Pakistan consumes contaminated water.

❌ Water Shortage: In 2023, each person in Pakistan had access to only 860 cubic meters of water per year, which is far below the safe level. The situation is worsening due to population growth and climate change.

❌ Depleting Groundwater: Over 80% of Pakistan’s population relies on underground water, but it's being used up faster than it can be replenished, especially in Punjab and Sindh, leading to potential future shortages.

❌ Limited Water Storage: Pakistan can only store enough water for 30 days, while it should ideally have enough for 1,000 days to manage during dry spells or emergencies.

❌ High Water Stress: Pakistan ranks among the top 15 most water-stressed countries globally, with most of its water being inefficiently used in agriculture, putting both water and food security at risk.

❌ Waterborne Diseases: In 2023, Pakistan faced significant health challenges due to waterborne diseases like cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid. Approx. 50,000 children loose their lives yearly from contaminated water.

Solar Water Filtration : Transforming Clean Water Access

Traditional hand pumps and wells have long been the go-to solutions, but they are labor-intensive, require constant maintenance, and may not always guarantee the purity of the water.

Enter our solar water filtration system—a groundbreaking advancement that transforms how we access and purify water.

This system uses energy from the sun to pump and clean the water. This means no more manual labor or frequent breakdowns. The solar panels do all the work, from pulling water up from deep underground to making sure it’s clean and safe.

This cutting-edge technology not only provides a more reliable and sustainable solution but also dramatically improves water quality.

By using solar power, we offer a clean, eco-friendly approach that ensures a steady, safe water supply, reducing the risk of contamination and the need for dangerous water-fetching journeys.

Najam and its partners are on the ground in Pakistan providing clean water on your behalf! 💧

Since 2016, we have installed over 800 solar-powered water stations, providing clean drinking water to 12 million people daily.

"The water in our village has been contaminated for over 15 years. We had access to groundwater, but the factories nearby released toxins, and all that contaminated water came to our village. The people who have used it have suffered from diseases and had disabled children. This water is unusable."

What better form of Sadaqah Jaariya is there than providing the gift of water to those in need?

💧 Education: Access to clean water is crucial for children's education. Many children—especially girls—are often required to spend hours each day fetching water for their families. This responsibility can force them to

miss school or drop out entirely, limiting their educational opportunities.

💧Health & Hygiene: Regular handwashing, bathing, and cleaning with safe water prevent the spread of diseases and infections. Poor water quality can lead to serious health complications, especially in vulnerable populations like children and the elderly.

💧Daily Living: From cooking to cleaning clean water is needed. It’s used to prepare meals, ensuring they are safe and free from contaminants. Without clean water, the risk of foodborne illnesses increases, impacting health.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariya (ongoing charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them" (Muslim).

Why Najam Delivers Clean Water to 12 Million People Every Day

We are so busy in our everyday lives that we don’t remember our fellow brothers and sisters living below the poverty line.

We don’t realize how miserably they are living their life.

We have food, luxury, a home and we cannot imagine what it must be like living in poverty. It’s not something we can feel ashamed of because it’s how our nature is, it's how we are built… and we often forget about the struggles of our brothers and sisters.. But here’s a deep question to consider..

How long can we neglect children and families dying from contaminated water?

Water is life and you have that power to provide that lifeline to millions in need.

Every contribution you make to their health is more than just providing clean water—you're gaining their blessings and dua's in this life and the hereafter.
